St. Joe Tournament

Another strong showing for the Sea Flea Team, but again we fell a little short. We finished 4th in a close hard fought tournament. The tactic was to get the 3 trout for the 30 bonus points and then try to get a few kings before finishing off your limit with coho. We made a conservative decision on saturday because of the north blow on friday afternoon. I figured the coho bite would be slower, so I tried the kings and coho first and I was right the bite was slow, so after one hour we ran to catch the trout and caught 3 trout and a king. Had to return one trout and time was getting short with less than one an a half hours left to fish. We pulled lines and headed for coho country. Put down one rod for trout and pulled the rest for coho. With 50 minutes to go we landed our third trout and started speed trolling for coho and steelhead. We caught 8 fish in the last 45 minutes. We felt good to get our fish and alot more of the competitors feel short than the first day. Best Chance Too took the chance and went for the trout and kings first and did well on them. They took the win with a big second day catch. Hour Time was also a big mover on day two and had the biggest catch of the tournament with a 87 pound cooler. Good job to the Best Chance Too team and Hour Time team.

I feel good about Team Sea Flea this year. Our trout program is working good and we always have a good king program. If we can keep it going we should have a good tournament year. Two top five finishes in two very tough tournaments is been a good start.
