Meet the Captain

Your US Coast Guard licensed captain is Brian Butts.  From April to October, I am a full time Charter Captain.  This allows me to stay constantly up-to-date on the location of the fish and the presentations that are working best.  It also keeps me on top of the prevailing lake conditions that are key to locating fish and offers my customers the advantage of having the best opportunity for a productive trip.

My Lake Michigan fishing experience began at a very young age as part of a strong family tradition.  I have been fishing on Lake Michigan for over 20 years and have fished most of the ports from Michigan City, Indiana to Grand Traverse Bay.

During the past 3 years, I have fished many of the salmon tournaments with great success!  We have 6 first place wins and have placed in the top five 11 times.  Our latest wins were the Holland Salmon Slam, the Saugatuck Waypoint Tournament, Big Jon Tri-Port Challenge, and the Grand Haven Offshore Challenge.  One of my greatest enjoyments is sharing the thrill of a person catching his or her first big fish.  It is always an experience that will be a treasured lifetime memory.

I enjoy sharing my knowledge and experience with those who want to learn.  My goal is to use the best equipment and expertise in a way that provides the ultimate fishing and boating experience. We can accommodate all groups and are willing to customize to fit your needs.  Your enjoyment and safety are our first priority.  My policy is "Catch fish or free."

Welcome aboard the Sea Flea…

To provide customers with the ultimate fishing and boating experience, we have a luxurious 31 ft. Tiara Open.  This twin-engine boat is large enough to comfortably and safely accommodate 6 people in addition to the Sea Flea crew.  The boat is insured and inspected annually by the United States Coats Guard.

It has all the latest safety equipment and state of the art electronic navigational and fishing gear: GPS, radar, autopilot, fish finders, temperature monitors, speed indicators, and a VHF radio.  For comfort, we are equipped with a private bathroom, cell phone, cabin air conditioning and heat, microwave, and refrigerator.

We use the latest fishing poles, reels, downriggers, etc., and all are maintained in top condition.  The 31 ft. Tiara has the reputation of being one of the finest, most luxurious fishing boats on the Great Lakes.
